One of five cardiac interventionalists at Appleton Heart Institute, Dr. Douglas W. Mielke specializes in nonsurgical procedures that open blocked arteries. These procedures often translate into less risk and quicker recovery than surgical alternatives.
Dr. Mielke has extensive experience working with catheters to perform a variety of procedures and serves as director of Theda Clark Medical Center’s cardiac catheterization lab. Echocardiography is also an area of expertise and remains an important aspect of his patient care.
Dr. Mielke is experienced in all aspects of interventional cardiology, including:

Dr. Mielke received his medical school training at the University of Wisconsin Medical School in Madison. His internship and residency were performed at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver, Colorado. Dr. Mielke went on to complete his fellowship in cardiology and interventional cardiology at University Hospital in Oklahoma City.
Dr. Mielke joined Appleton Heart Institute in 1994 and maintains a full-time clinical practice in cardiology. He works from the Neenah office on the campus of Theda Clark Medical Center. He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Diseases. He is also a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and Society for Cardiac Angiography and Interventions.
